This Veterans Day, the Dogtopia Foundation reaffirmed its dedication to America’s veterans by announcing that it has surpassed $5 million in donations to support the training and placement of service dogs. Since its founding in 2017, the foundation has helped connect more than 700 veterans with life-changing canine companions, marking a powerful milestone for both the nonprofit and the Dogtopia franchise network that supports it. With more than 250 locations nationwide, the franchise has turned community fundraising into a shared mission of care, wellness, and gratitude.
Executive Director Liz Meyers called the achievement a reflection of the community’s heart and collective effort. “Every dollar raised, every dog trained, and every veteran supported reflects the heart of our community,” she said. Her statement captures how franchisees and pet parents have embraced the cause through creative events, including Dogtopia’s playful “Makin’ Bacon” parties and bubble days that double as local fundraisers. These efforts have transformed the foundation’s vision into tangible impact, fostering unity and purpose across the Dogtopia network.
Among the many lives touched is that of veteran Jesse Heineken, whose service dog, Brady, became a source of hope and companionship after years of struggle. “When life feels like I’m walking a tightrope, Brady is my safety net,” Heineken shared. “He takes me out of isolation, breaks the darkness, and brings light.” The foundation has also contributed nearly $600,000 to America’s VetDogs and continues to strengthen its partnership with Canine Companions, an organization dedicated to providing expertly trained service dogs to veterans, adults, and children with disabilities. Together, these partnerships expand Dogtopia’s reach and deepen its commitment to improving quality of life for those who served.
For Dogtopia, this milestone is more than a financial success. It demonstrates how a franchise can weave purpose into its business model and drive meaningful social change through collaboration. As the brand continues to expand, its foundation’s mission remains central to its identity. By turning compassion into action and nurturing partnerships like those with America’s VetDogs and Canine Companions, Dogtopia is setting a standard for what it means to lead with heart in the world of franchising.
