Cousins Maine Lobster, the fast-casual seafood franchise celebrated for its authentic Maine lobster rolls and tacos, is making its debut in Indiana with two new food trucks. Local entrepreneurs Hussein Kourani and Al Obaid, both deputy sheriffs and brothers-in-law, will operate the trucks, with the first set to launch in Gary and South Bend in March 2026. A second truck will follow in Fort Wayne, bringing Maine-style seafood to a new audience in the Hoosier State.
The food trucks will serve CML’s signature menu, including lobster tacos, grilled cheese sandwiches, and whoopie pies, offering residents a flexible way to enjoy premium seafood without the constraints of a traditional restaurant. The brand sees this mobile format as a strategic approach to enter new markets efficiently while maintaining high-quality standards and customer experience.
Al Obaid described the partnership as a unique opportunity to bring Maine’s culinary tradition to Indiana. “We are proud to carry forward a brand built on trust and passion,” he said. Hussein Kourani and his brother Hadi are supporting operations to ensure every customer receives the same level of service and family-oriented hospitality that has defined the CML experience since its founding.
Lindsay Herberger, Cousins Maine Lobster’s Director of Franchise Development, praised the Indiana operators for their commitment and alignment with the brand’s values. She emphasized that the partnership reflects CML’s broader strategy of combining family-driven operations with flexible franchise models. As the trucks prepare to hit the streets, the launch promises to introduce Hoosiers to the flavor, quality, and community spirit that have made Cousins Maine Lobster a national favorite.
