When Lindsey and Karl launched their travel consultancy in June, they never imagined how quickly their new business would take flight. Only a few months later, the couple secured an extraordinary £298,791 booking for a private jet group trip to the Caribbean. The achievement made them the fastest consultants to complete The Travel Franchise’s highly regarded Money Back Challenge, hitting their target in record time while still managing full-time jobs.
“Our goal was always to achieve the Challenge, but balancing work with running a consultancy was not easy,” Lindsey said. “When that major booking came through, it felt like all our effort had paid off.” Now, the pair is preparing to take their business full-time in the coming year, confident in their ability to build on this early momentum.
Their story began nearly four years earlier, when they attended a discovery event hosted by The Travel Franchise co-founders Steve Witt and Paul Harrison. Inspired by the brand’s emphasis on training and support, the couple decided to pursue their long-standing dream of turning their love for travel into a business. After years spent in retail management and even selling their home to travel the world, they relocated to Lincolnshire and found the perfect platform to make that dream a reality.
The record-breaking booking came from high-net-worth clients who were already repeat customers. Negotiations took place while Lindsey and Karl were on holiday in South Africa, and at one point they feared the deal might collapse. “We suggested a private jet option at the last moment, and that sealed it,” Lindsey recalled with a laugh. The booking not only fulfilled their challenge goal but also reinforced their confidence in the franchise model.
The couple credits much of their success to the guidance and responsiveness of their Business Development Manager, Catherine, and the broader support team at The Travel Franchise. “It was the whole package,” Lindsey said. “The training, the guidance, and the community all gave us the tools we needed to succeed.” With their biggest booking to date secured, they plan to reinvest their franchise fee and expand their consultancy full-time in 2026.
For Lindsey and Karl, what began as a side venture has become a clear pathway toward independence and a life built around their shared passion for travel. Their story stands as a powerful example of what is possible with the right franchise support and an unwavering commitment to success.
