Chipotle Mexican Grill has strengthened its board of directors with the appointment of Josh Weinstein. Weinstein, who currently serves as chief executive officer of Carnival Corporation & plc, brings more than two decades of experience in hospitality, operations, and corporate governance. His addition expands Chipotle’s board to ten members, nine of whom are independent, reflecting the company’s ongoing focus on strategic oversight and disciplined growth.
Weinstein’s career at Carnival has been marked by a variety of senior leadership roles, including Chief Operations Officer and President of Carnival UK. Earlier in his career, he served in the company’s corporate legal department. This diverse experience has provided him with deep knowledge in operational efficiency, customer service, and regulatory compliance, skills highly relevant to a fast-growing restaurant chain like Chipotle.
Beyond his corporate responsibilities, Weinstein contributes to the community through board service. He sits on the board of trustees at the Perez Art Museum Miami and has been involved with Catalyst, a nonprofit organization focused on advancing women in the workplace. These commitments reflect a broader leadership philosophy that combines business acumen with social impact.
Chipotle Chairman Scott Maw expressed confidence that Weinstein’s hospitality expertise and governance experience will strengthen the company’s strategic direction. Weinstein will serve on the Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee, where his insight is expected to support the board’s work in guiding long-term growth, maintaining operational standards, and reinforcing corporate accountability.
