Captain D’s, the American seafood chain known for its Southern-inspired menu, is making its United Kingdom debut this month with a new restaurant in Broadstairs, Kent. The opening on October 20 at Westwood Cross Shopping Centre marks the company’s first step into the British market under a 20-unit master franchise agreement with CD’s Holdings. It is a significant move for the Nashville-based brand as it begins to expand its presence beyond North America.
The Broadstairs restaurant introduces a modernized design that blends coastal aesthetics with a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere. The interiors feature vibrant colors, nautical motifs, and contemporary seating meant to create a lively yet comfortable dining space. The launch also brings a tailored UK menu, featuring items that marry American Southern flavors with British sensibilities. Alongside traditional fish and chicken dishes, diners can expect spicy Nashville-style fish fillets, golden hush puppies, and creamy milkshakes that reflect the brand’s roots.
For Captain D’s, the UK opening is part of a broader effort to bring its fast-casual seafood model to international markets. Hair Parra, the company’s Senior Vice President of International Operations and Development, described the Broadstairs launch as “the future of our brand,” underscoring the company’s belief in its global potential. Naveed Chattha, Operations Director at CD’s Holdings, said the collaboration aims to combine Captain D’s established brand identity with strong local operational expertise to meet the preferences of British diners.
The partnership between Captain D’s and CD’s Holdings represents a strategic alignment designed to balance innovation with familiarity. While the menu and design draw from American influences, the franchise will also focus on building local relationships and community engagement in each new region it enters. This approach, both executives noted, is essential for long-term success in a market with deeply rooted dining traditions.
Two additional UK locations are already planned for Sussex and Hampshire, signaling the brand’s confidence in its new international venture. For Captain D’s, this debut is more than a restaurant opening—it is an ambitious introduction to a new audience that could shape the company’s global growth for years to come.
