Burger Urge has officially opened its second Toowoomba restaurant at 407 Bridge Street in Wilsonton, bringing the brand’s national total to 31 locations. The site draws inspiration from the 1990s cult classic Empire Records, with interior touches that evoke the film’s rebellious energy and retro charm. For locals, it offers a dining experience that blends nostalgia with the brand’s trademark flair for bold design and flavor.
The new restaurant is owned and operated by franchise partners Grant and Jordan Phillips, who said they are proud to bring another Burger Urge location to Toowoomba. “We’ve always admired how Burger Urge connects with its communities,” said Grant Phillips. “Our goal is to create a fun, welcoming space where great food and great people come together.” The duo’s leadership reflects the franchise’s emphasis on local ownership and hands-on involvement in every aspect of operations.
The opening has also provided a welcome boost to the Wilsonton economy, creating 40 new employment opportunities across various roles. Beyond the immediate impact on jobs, Burger Urge has committed to strengthening its community presence by supporting local schools and sporting clubs. This approach aligns with the brand’s belief that restaurants can serve as meaningful community hubs, not just places to eat.
To mark the grand opening, the team is hosting a Halloween Block Party on October 31 at 4 p.m. The event will feature live music, games, face painting, and family-friendly entertainment designed to bring residents together in celebration. It signals Burger Urge’s intent to become an active part of Toowoomba’s social fabric.
With its mix of creative branding, strong community ties, and entrepreneurial leadership from partners like Grant and Jordan Phillips, Burger Urge continues to solidify its reputation as one of Australia’s most distinctive quick-service restaurant franchises. The Wilsonton opening represents more than expansion; it’s a statement of how local spirit and national growth can thrive side by side.
