Hawaiian Bros Island Grill is preparing to bring its island inspired fast casual concept to Kentucky through a new five unit development agreement with Ohana Restaurant Group. The partnership will introduce four restaurants in Lexington and one in Bowling Green, marking the brand’s entry into a new regional market while extending its growing footprint across the Midwest and Southeast.
Ohana Restaurant Group, led by partners Zach Fugate, Nick Blasi, and Jessie Nelson, already operates five Hawaiian Bros locations across Kansas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. The group has built a reputation for disciplined operations and consistent performance, which made it a natural partner as Hawaiian Bros looks to expand into additional territories. Fugate said the brand’s strong connection with guests in existing markets motivated the decision to continue growing the portfolio.
The relationship between the two organizations began in 2023 with the opening of Ohana’s first Hawaiian Bros restaurant in Springdale, Arkansas. Since then, the group has continued to invest in the concept, with additional locations currently under construction in Norman, Oklahoma, and Springfield, Missouri. The Kentucky agreement represents the next phase of that expansion strategy.
Carey Malloy, chief development officer for Hawaiian Bros, described Ohana Restaurant Group as the type of franchise partner the brand seeks when entering new regions. He cited the group’s commitment to team development, service standards, and operational excellence as key factors in awarding the multi unit agreement.
As Hawaiian Bros continues to build its presence across the country, the Kentucky development highlights a deliberate approach focused on experienced operators and sustainable growth. The new restaurants are expected to introduce more communities to the brand’s signature island inspired menu while reinforcing its reputation as a steadily expanding leader in the fast casual dining segment.
