The Alkhatib family is expanding its presence in the franchising sector with a new venture into the fast-growing beverage category. Led by Yasser Alkhatib and his sons Khalid and Beshr, the family has signed a five-unit development agreement with Feng Cha to introduce the brand across Central and North Texas.
Backed by more than 25 years of experience in the restaurant industry, the Alkhatibs bring a strong operational foundation to the partnership. Khalid and Beshr will oversee daily operations, ensuring consistency and quality across all locations. The agreement includes plans for three units in Waco and two in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, with the first location expected to open later this year.
Reflecting on the decision to partner with Feng Cha, Yasser Alkhatib emphasized the importance of selecting the right brand. He noted that after years of building and managing restaurants across multiple markets, the family recognized strong fundamentals in Feng Cha, particularly its focus on quality, scalability, and customer appeal. These attributes, combined with the brand’s use of premium ingredients, positioned it as a compelling opportunity in the competitive beverage sector.
The Alkhatib family is already well established in franchising through its portfolio of Denny’s locations, which spans Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi. Since 2008, Yasser has played a key role in developing several of these units from the ground up, consistently delivering strong performance and exceeding growth expectations.
Founded by Johnny Gao and Yan Chen, Feng Cha has grown to more than 80 locations nationwide. Gao expressed confidence in the partnership, highlighting the Alkhatib family’s track record of disciplined operations and community engagement. As the brand expands into new markets, the collaboration underscores the role of experienced operators in driving sustainable franchise growth.
