Copying a tribe's page to other tribes

download Download PDF

A tribe is one location, branch or business unit inside your organisation. When one tribe has built a page of its own, such as a team page, and you look after several tribes, you can copy that page to the others instead of building it again in each one. Each tribe you choose gets its own copy, with the same fields, text, images and menu settings.

Before you start

  • You need permission to view the website of the tribe the page comes from, and to edit the website of every tribe you copy it to. A tribe whose website you cannot edit is listed, but you cannot tick it.
  • If you have no role in the organisation itself and only belong to some of its tribes, only those tribes are listed.
  • Only a page the tribe made itself can be copied. A tribe's copy of an organisation page has no copy button, because it follows the organisation page; use Duplicate Organisation Page in each tribe instead.

Copy the page

  1. Open the tribe that has the page, open its website, and select Website Pages in the menu on the left.
  2. Find the page in the list and select the copy icon at the end of its row (its label is Copy to tribe).
  3. In the window that opens, tick each tribe that should get the page. Use Search tribes to find a tribe by name. The tribes you have ticked are listed under the table, and you can take one off by selecting the cross on its name. You can tick up to 50 tribes at a time.
  4. Select Copy to followed by the number of tribes you ticked. A message tells you how many tribes received the page and names any that were skipped.
  5. Open each tribe's Website Pages, read its copy and change anything that belongs to the tribe it came from.

Tribes that are skipped

A tribe that already has a page with the same slug (the last part of the page's web address) on that website is not changed, so a page a tribe already has is never replaced. In the list it shows Already has a page with the slug and the slug, and it cannot be ticked. To give that tribe the copy anyway, delete or rename its own page first, then copy again.

THE COPIES ARE NOT LINKED
Each copy belongs to the tribe it was copied to. Changing the original page later does not change the copies, and changing a copy does not change the original. To give the tribes a new version, delete their copies and copy the page again. A copy you no longer want is deleted from that tribe's Website Pages like any other page.
