Products and services

The products and services list is the part of a vendor profile that answers the question a tribe actually has: do you sell the thing I need?

Listing them well

  • Name things the way a customer would ask for them, not by your internal product code.
  • Group them into product categories so a long list stays browsable.
  • Say what it is for. A name alone tells a tribe in another trade nothing.
  • Include the services, not only the goods — installation, training, maintenance are often what decides the purchase.

Keep it to what you supply to this network

A catalogue of four hundred lines is not more persuasive than thirty well-chosen ones. List what these tribes actually buy, and let the website carry the full range.

Keeping it current

A DISCONTINUED PRODUCT IS WORSE THAN A MISSING ONE
A tribe who enquires about something you stopped supplying two years ago gets a bad first experience of you. Review the list when your range changes — it is the vendor's job, not head office's.
