When a post fails to publish

download Download PDF

Open the post and look at the channel that failed. The error the platform gave is recorded against it — that message is the fastest route to the cause.

The three usual causes

CauseSignFix
The connection expiredEvery post to that channel fails, text or not.Reconnect the account, then re-check the pages are still linked.
The video is the wrong shapeVideo posts fail, text posts to the same channel work.Re-export the video square or portrait and post again.
The platform refused the contentOne post fails; others go out fine.Read the error. Usually a link, a mention or a media file the platform would not take.

Republishing

Fix the cause, then duplicate the post and schedule the copy. Check first that the failed channel really did publish nothing — republishing after a partial success posts twice to the channels that worked.

NOBODY IS WATCHING FOR YOU
A failed post is quiet. If your posts matter, look at the list once a week — a connection that lapsed a fortnight ago means a fortnight of silence on that channel that nobody noticed.

Across a network

When one tribe's copy of an organisation post failed and the others went out, the problem is that tribe's connection rather than the post. The connection status report shows which tribes need attention.
