Making sure your channels are ready

Publishing depends entirely on connections, and connections lapse. Checking them takes a minute and saves a campaign.

What has to be in place

  1. Somebody has connected their account for each platform.
  2. The right pages are linked to the organisation or tribe that should post as them.
  3. The connection has not expired.

All three are needed. A connected account with no page linked publishes nothing, and an expired connection fails silently at the moment a scheduled post is due to go.

Checking a tribe

A tribe's social connections screen lists its channels and their state. Anything marked as expired or needing attention should be fixed before the next scheduled post, not after it fails.

Across a network

At organisation level, the connection status report shows every tribe at once — which is the only practical way to spot the four tribes out of forty whose Facebook connection quietly lapsed last month.

MAKE IT A ROUTINE
Glance at the status report at the start of every month, and before any campaign that matters. A lapsed connection found in advance is a two-minute fix; found afterwards it is a campaign that never ran.
