Promotion templates — Gorilla Dash

Every promotion starts from a template. Build one under Promotion Templates with Create Template, then reuse it for each competition you run.

What a template carries

Template Name and the component that renders it on your website.
Terms & Conditions — the competition rules.
Email Subject, Email Heading and Email Message for the entrant confirmation.
Show entries to tribes and Promotion Type defaults.
The entry form fields and website content blocks a new promotion starts with.

YOU CANNOT EDIT TERMS ON A LIVE COMPETITION

There is no terms field on the promotion form itself — they are copied from the template when you pick it and then stay fixed. Getting the rules wrong on a running competition means correcting the template and recreating the promotion. Have your terms checked before you launch, not after.

Choosing a template overwrites your work

Picking a template fills in the fields, website content, terms and email copy — and clears any banner image you had already selected. Choose the template first, then fill in the rest.

AND IT CANNOT BE CHANGED LATER

The template selector is disabled once the promotion has been created. If you picked the wrong one, duplicate the promotion and start again while it has no entries.

Blank email fields inherit

Anything you leave empty on the promotion falls back to the template's version. That is usually helpful — write the confirmation email once on the template and every competition gets it — but it does mean an email you thought was blank is not.

Deleting a template

NOTHING STOPS YOU DELETING A TEMPLATE IN USE

Unlike promotions, templates have no guard. Deleting one that live promotions were built from leaves them pointing at something that no longer exists. Set a template to Paused to take it out of circulation instead.
