The project board

download Download PDF

The board is every project as a card in a column. Drag a card to another column to move it, and the change saves as you drop it.

Two ways to group it

GroupingAnswers
By statusWhere is everything up to? The default, and the right one for a progress meeting.
By personWho is carrying what? The right one for spotting somebody with six projects and somebody with none.

Grouped by person, the columns are the people you have chosen as board members — so the board shows the team that matters rather than everyone in the organisation.

Filtering

Filter by person to see one individual's workload, and clear the filters to get everything back. An unassigned column is worth looking at every week — a project with nobody on it is a project nobody is doing.

Reading the board

  • A column that never empties — work goes in and does not come out. Usually a step nobody owns.
  • One person with most of the cards — a bottleneck, whatever the plan says.
  • Everything in the first column — either nothing is progressing, or nobody is moving the cards.
