Adding and editing a product

Creating a product requires very little — a Name, a Menu Label, a Status, a URL Slug and a Banner Heading. The create screen also offers the product type, categories, ranges and description, but everything optional is easier to fill in on the edit screen.

Status is not the same as being on sale

Status controls whether the product appears on your website. Whether it can be bought is a separate switch on the Online Shop tab. A product can be visible and not purchasable, or purchasable and hidden.

Note that Deleted is one of the status options and is not the same as deleting the product — it keeps the record and takes it off the site.

Sync with supplier is inverted in places

THE SAME SETTING HAS THREE DIFFERENT LABELS
On the product it is a Sync with supplier tick box; in bulk update it is Enable or Disable; in the product list it appears as a Supplier Status column reading Enabled or Disabled. They are all the one setting — whether supplier updates still overwrite this product. Turning it off is confirmed as permanent, and you do that when you have hand-edited a product and want your wording kept.

Deleting a product breaks its place in your menus

THE MENU ENTRIES ARE REMOVED AND DO NOT COME BACK
Deleting a product removes it from every website menu it appeared in, and restoring the product later does not restore its navigation. If it might come back, set its status to Paused instead.

Working in another language

Choosing a translation locale deliberately disables the media, components, variants and shop tabs and leaves only the translatable text fields editable. The page is not broken — switch back to your default language to edit everything else.

Bulk changes

From the product list you can select rows and use Update Detail to change status, online-store visibility, categories, ranges or supplier sync across all of them at once.
