Reports are under Reports. There are five, each answering a different question, and all filterable by date range, product and category.

ReportAnswers

Outstanding paymentsWhat have we billed and not been paid for?
TransactionsWhat money actually moved, and did it succeed?

Sales and recurring revenue are different numbers

This is the distinction worth getting right before quoting either at a board meeting.

  • Sales is what was sold in the period, one-off purchases included. It moves with a big merchandise order and then drops back.
  • Recurring revenue is what subscriptions are committed to bill again. It is the number that tells you whether the store is building a base or just having a good month.
WHICH TO REPORT UPWARDS
Recurring revenue, with sales alongside it. Sales alone makes a one-off conference look like growth; recurring revenue alone hides that half the network just reordered uniforms.

Billed is not collected

Sales counts what was sold. Outstanding payments counts what has not been paid for. A store can have an excellent sales month and a worsening cash position at the same time, and only reading both together shows it.

DO NOT READ SALES AS INCOME
An order placed on account counts in Sales the moment it is placed. If your store bills on terms, Sales is what you invoiced — Transactions is what actually arrived.

Date ranges

The usual presets are there — today, this week, this month, last month, year to date — plus a custom range. Compare like with like: this month against last month part-way through is a comparison of a partial period with a whole one.

Filtering by product and category

Both narrow every report, which is how you answer "is the merchandise range worth running?" or "what did the conference actually bring in?". The answers are only as good as your categories, which is a reason to keep those tidy.

A monthly routine

  1. Recurring revenue against last month — is the base growing?
  2. Sales by category — what is the network actually buying?
  3. Outstanding payments — is the amount owed growing faster than sales?
  4. Transactions — any run of failures worth investigating?
