What to fill in

FieldWhy it matters
NameWhat people search for. Leave it blank on a bulk upload and the file names are used — which is fine if your files are named sensibly and useless if they are DSC_4471.
Media categoryWhere it is filed.
TagsHow it is found by anyone who does not know its name.
DescriptionContext — where it was taken, what it shows, what it is for.
Product, range or product categoryTies the image to what you sell, so it can be found from there.

Preparing the file

  • Upload the largest good version you have. The library makes the smaller sizes; it cannot invent detail that was never there.
  • Use PNG for logos and anything with transparency, and pick the original size when you use it.
  • Name files before uploading a batch — it is far quicker than renaming fifty afterwards.
  • Check you are allowed to use it. A photo from a supplier or the web may not be yours to publish.
DO NOT LEAVE THE PAGE MID-UPLOAD
The library warns you that leaving loses the media you have selected. On a large batch over a slow connection, let it finish.
