A tribe is one location, branch or business unit inside your organisation. Everything in the Food module — menu items, modifiers, products, menus — is created and owned at organisation level. Tribes cannot create their own menu items or menus. What they can do is adjust how the organisation menu applies at their location, and only where you have allowed it.
Three switches on every menu
When you create or edit a menu you decide what tribes may do with it.
| Switch | What it does when on |
|---|---|
| Tribe Enabled | The menu appears in each tribe's Food section. Off, and tribes do not see it at all — useful while a menu is still being built. |
| Tribes can edit prices | A tribe can set its own price on any item listed on the menu. Items it leaves alone keep the organisation price. |
| Tribes can disable menu items | A tribe can switch an item off at its location, so it does not show on that tribe's ordering portal or website menu. |
A tribe-specific price or a disabled item applies to that tribe only. The organisation menu and every other tribe are unchanged, and the tribe can go back to the default at any time.
What the tribe sees
In the tribe, Food shows the menus enabled for tribes. Opening one shows its sections and items with the price in force at that location. Where editing is allowed, the tribe types its own price against an item, or switches Use default price back on to return to yours. A tribe can also give an item its own External Order URL, for a location that takes orders for that item somewhere else.
Setting tribe prices from head office
You do not have to wait for each location. On the menu, open an item and use Tribe-Specific Pricing to enter a price for any tribe, or Apply Default to All to put the whole network back on the organisation price in one go.
