Email campaigns: how the pieces fit together

download Download PDF

Sending an email campaign in Gorilla Dash means assembling four things. They are separate on purpose: the same email can go to different lists, and the same list can be sent to again and again.

PieceWhat it is
Mailing listWho receives it. Built from your contacts using filters, not typed out by hand.
EmailWhat they receive. Built from a template in the email builder.
CampaignOne send: this email, to this list, from this name, on this date.
ResultsWhat happened — delivered, opened, clicked, bounced, unsubscribed.

The order to work in

  1. Build the mailing list and check the recipient count looks sane.
  2. Build the email from a template.
  3. Create the campaign, pointing at both.
  4. Send yourself a test and read it on a phone.
  5. Schedule or launch it.
  6. Read the results a day or two later.

Organisation and tribe campaigns

A campaign built at organisation level can be pushed to your tribes, so each tribe sends its own version to its own customers. A campaign built inside a tribe covers that tribe only.

THIS IS NOT ONE-TO-ONE EMAIL
Campaigns are bulk marketing, with consent, unsubscribes and deliverability handled properly. Writing to one customer is a job for the CRM, from your own mailbox.
