Seeing who clicked

download Download PDF

View Clicks on a sent campaign shows what people clicked and who clicked it. It is the most valuable screen in email marketing, because a click is a person telling you what they are interested in.

What it tells you

  • Which links won. If the main button lost to a footer link, the campaign was not about what you thought.
  • Who is interested right now. Names, not a percentage.
  • Whether the offer landed — one strong link beats clicks scattered across ten.

Turning clicks into work

  1. Open the clicks for a campaign the day after it goes out.
  2. Look at who clicked the offer — those are warm leads today, not next month.
  3. Give them to a rep as a call list, or book tasks against them in the CRM.
  4. Do it while it is fresh. A click is worth far less a fortnight later.
THE FOLLOW-UP IS THE CAMPAIGN
Most businesses send the email and stop. The ones that get results treat the click report as a lead list and ring people the next morning.

Exporting

Campaign detail can be exported when you need it elsewhere. Take the narrowest export that does the job — it is customer data, and a spreadsheet of it on a laptop is outside every control you have.
