Working a call list

download Download PDF

Open a list and start calling. The screen puts the queue on one side and everything about the current lead in the middle, so you never have to go looking for context mid-conversation.

What is in front of you

  • The lead: who they are, their company, their number.
  • Whether they have ever been contacted, and when.
  • Any callback already booked, so you do not ring someone twice.
  • Their opportunities and open follow-ups.
  • The queue, so you can see what is left.

The rhythm of a call

  1. Read the lead. Ten seconds is enough to avoid the worst opening lines.
  2. Ring them.
  3. Record the outcome.
  4. Book the follow-up if there is one — a callback, a meeting, or a task.
  5. Say what happened in the log. One line is plenty.
  6. Move to the next.

Things you can do without leaving the screen

ActionWhat it does
Add new contactCreates a contact — or a company — mid-session.
Remove from listTakes the lead off. Its call history is kept.
Send to another listMoves or copies the lead to a different campaign.
Reopen this leadPuts a closed lead back into the queue.
LOG IT BEFORE YOU MOVE ON
The single habit that decides whether a call list is worth anything. A session of forty calls logged as you go is a record; forty calls logged from memory at five o'clock is fiction.
