The calls dashboard

download Download PDF

Select Calls in the left-hand menu, then Calls Dashboard. This is the summary view: how many calls came in, which advertising produced them, and how the tribes compare. It answers questions about the shape of your call volume. For questions about a particular call, use the Calls screen instead.

Two cards, and only one of them has a period

The screen is in two halves, and it is worth knowing which is which before you read a figure off it. The upper card, Campaign Analytics, is fixed: it always reports this month, last month, this year and last year, and there is no control to change that. The lower card, Tribe Performance Analytics, carries its own Time Period selector in its heading, and that selector governs the tribe table and nothing else.

The Time Period options are This month, Last month, This year, Last year, All, and Custom Date Range, which lets you set a Start Date and an End Date of your own.

Where a period has not finished yet, the Overview tiles compare where you have got to against the same point in the previous period rather than against its final total — the "vs last month pace" figure. This matters on the tenth of the month, when a straight comparison against last month's complete total would always look catastrophic.

What the panels show

PanelWhat it tells you
Overview (Campaign Analytics)Four call-count tiles — This Month, Last Month, This Year and Last Year — each with its comparison against the previous period.
Campaign Performance (Campaign Analytics)Calls broken down by the campaign labels on the numbers they arrived on. This is the panel that answers "did the paid advertising produce calls".
Tribe Performance AnalyticsOne row per tribe for the period you selected, with a column per campaign, a Total Calls column, and a Status column. Sorted by total calls to begin with, so the quiet tribes are at the bottom.
New Customer ScoreA column of the tribe table rather than a panel of its own: the average score across that tribe's scored calls. The guide on rating calls from new customers explains what the score measures.
A CAMPAIGN WITH NO CALLS MAY MEAN NO LABEL
Campaign Performance can only group calls by the labels that exist on the numbers. A campaign showing nothing is as likely to mean the numbers were never tagged as it is to mean the advertising failed. Check Manage Campaigns before drawing a conclusion — and note that calls on numbers carrying no campaign at all are grouped as "Unnamed campaign".

Taking the figures away

Export Data, in the Tribe Performance Analytics heading, downloads that table as a spreadsheet so you can put it beside your advertising spend. It exports the tribe rows only — the Campaign Analytics card above is not included — and it follows the Time Period selector, so set the period first and export afterwards.
