How a store takes money is set per store, because a school shop and a corporate uniform account rarely work the same way.

The methods

MethodSuits
Credit cardIndividuals paying for their own goods. A card fee can be applied.
InvoiceA client paying on account. Enabled by default when card payment is turned off.
Custom payment methodsAnything your business does that is neither — an internal charge code, a payroll deduction.

When payment is taken

  • On purchase — charged as they order. Simple, and right without approval.
  • On acceptance — charged once the order is approved. The fair pairing with purchase approval.

Live payment mode

THE SWITCH TO CHECK BEFORE LAUNCH — AND AFTER TESTING
A store left out of live mode takes no real money, and one switched on before you finished testing takes real money from you. Place a test order, then switch to live, then place one more real order and refund it.

Card fees

A credit card fee can be added. If you charge one, say so on the storefront rather than letting it appear at the last step of checkout — a surprise fee at the payment screen is a common reason baskets are abandoned.
