Setting up bookable slots

What a visitor can book is decided by two things: the appointment type, and the tribe's opening hours. There is no per-person availability and no concept of who will be taking the appointment.

Appointment types

Under Tribe Appointment Types, press Create Appointment Type:

Field	What it does
Name	What the booking is called. Your website form sends this exact text.
Default Duration (minutes)	How long the appointment lasts.
Interval	How often a slot starts — 5, 10, 15, 20 or 30 minutes, or hourly.
Max Concurrent	Intended to allow overlapping bookings. See the warning below.
Status	Active, Paused or Deleted — none of which stops bookings. See the warning below.

Despite the screen title, types are set up once for the organisation and shared by every tribe.

Never rename a type in use

RENAMING A TYPE BREAKS THE BOOKING FORM ON YOUR WEBSITE

Your website asks for slots and submits bookings by the type's name, exactly as spelled. Change "Consultation" to "Free Consultation" and every booking attempt fails until the website is updated to match. If you need a different label for customers, change it on the website, not here. Also avoid two types with the same name — one of them will simply never be reached.

Two settings that do nothing

PAUSED DOES NOT STOP BOOKINGS, AND MAX CONCURRENT IS IGNORED

Setting Status to Paused — or to Deleted — does not prevent customers booking it, because the booking form never looks at the status. And Max Concurrent has no effect: one booking always blocks the slot, whatever number you put in. To genuinely stop bookings, remove the type with the Delete button at the bottom of the edit screen — which is a different thing from the Deleted status above it — or close the hours.

Opening hours decide the slots

Slots are generated from each tribe's Opening Hours, set on the tribe itself. A day with no hours, or marked closed, offers nothing. Split shifts work — set two open and close pairs for the day and the gap between them is unbookable.

CUSTOM OPENING HOURS ARE NOT APPLIED TO BOOKINGS

One-off overrides — public holidays, a Christmas closure, a late trading night — are used elsewhere but are ignored when working out bookable slots. Customers can book you for Christmas Day. If you close for a period, change the regular opening hours for those days or watch the bookings that come in.
