Subway is deepening its presence in Qatar through a new master franchise agreement with Alamtiazat Al Alamyah Food Stuff, part of Al Mana International Holding. The agreement grants the group exclusive rights to develop and manage all Subway restaurants across the country, marking a renewed phase of expansion for the global sandwich chain. It also builds on a long-standing partnership that began in 2010, when the company first became a multi-unit operator for the brand in Qatar.
Tracy Gehlan, President of Europe, the Middle East and Africa for Subway, said the chain has grown into a local favorite in Qatar, driven by demand for fresh, convenient and affordable meals. She noted that the operator’s experience and local market knowledge create a strong foundation for future growth and for bringing more guests into the brand’s expanding network.
The new agreement will guide the rollout of Subway’s updated restaurant design and its upgraded digital ordering system. Alamtiazat Al Alamyah Food Stuff plans to enhance both new and existing locations, with an emphasis on operational efficiency and a smooth guest experience. Abdulrahman Al Mana, the company’s chief executive, said the goal is to deliver consistently high-quality service and maintain Subway’s position as a recognizable and trusted choice for diners across the country.
Subway has been pursuing an ambitious international growth strategy, signing more than 25 master franchise agreements across the world in the past four years. These agreements represent more than 10,000 planned openings and signal a clear push to strengthen the chain’s global footprint. The Qatar partnership reinforces that momentum and demonstrates the company’s confidence in collaboration with strong regional operators.
As the brand continues to expand throughout the Middle East, its strategy reflects a broader shift in the quick-service sector, where international chains increasingly rely on experienced partners to lead market development. The renewed agreement in Qatar positions Subway for sustained growth and ensures that guests will have greater access to its modernized restaurants and evolving menu in the years ahead.
